PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Mount Union's men's soccer team defeated Chatham 3-0 in their season opener on Tuesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (1-0) struck first when junior
Keegan White (Columbus / Olentangy) scored off an assist from freshman
Drew Krupitzer (Avon Lake) to take a 1-0 lead in the 10
th minute. Then, in the 45
th minute sophomore
Matt Caputo (Hudson) found the back of the net to end the first half as Mount Union would take a 2-0 lead into the half time break.
Senior
Alex Depperschmidt (Mansfield / Lexington) would add the third and final goal of the night in the 79
th minute.
The Cougars (0-1) wouldn't be able to answer as the Raiders would go on to win 3-0.
Junior goalkeeper
Enio Hoxha (Akron / Copley) recorded two save en route to his first shutout victory of the season.
The Raiders return home next when they host Hiram on Saturday, September 5 at 1 p.m. for their home opener in Kehres Stadium.
