Mount Union College's softball team (26-7) took one of two games
against Case Western Reserve on Thursday, April 21 in Cleveland,
Ohio. The Raiders took game one by a score of 9-2 in 8 innings
while the Spartans earned a 5-1 victory in the nightcap.
In the opener, the Lady Raiders scored seven runs in the eighth
inning to earn a 9-2 extra-inning win behind a record-setting
performance by pitcher Lindsey Royer. Royer picked up her team
leading thirteenth victory of the season while striking out 18
Spartans, a Mount Union single-game record, in the contest.
Offensively, Cortney Frederick led the Raiders going 3 for 4
with a stolen base and RBI. The Raiders also received multiple hit
games from Crystal Thomas who was 2 for 5 with 3 RBI and Royer who
went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Erin Duignan hit her third home run of
the season and had 2 RBI.

The Spartans rebounded in game #2 with a 5-1 win. Ashley Ault
(5-3) took the loss for the Raiders, surrendering five runs in
seven innings while striking out three. Katie Olive led the Purple
Raiders on offense with a pair of doubles. Thomas went 1 for 3 in
the game.

Mount Union will next host conference foe Capital on Saturday,
April 23 at the 23rd Street Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1
p.m.
