Mount Union (6-1, 1-1 OAC) trailed 33-19 with just under five
minutes to go in the first half and crawled its way back into
the game with as they closed out the half on an 11-2 run
to trail 35-30 at the break.
The Purple Raiders took the lead for the first time since the
game's opening minutes, 38-37, on a Switzer three-pointer
with 14:46 remaining.
The score ended up tied on five occasions over the next 10
minutes and with the game knotted at 56 with five
minutes remaining Mount Union turned on the defense
holding Heidelberg (4-3, 1-1) to three points the rest of the
way as the Raiders outscored the Berg 42-24 in the second half
for the win.
Switzer led four players in double figures as Dave
Pellerite (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) had 16 points, Ben
Hodkinson (Tippecanoe/Harrison Central) had a career-best 14 points
and Jay Mathis (Tallmadge/Tallmadge) had 12 points and 11
rebounds.
