ERIE, Pa. -- Katie Etling (Mantua/Garfield) scored two goals for the Mount Union women's soccer team, but a late Purple Raider push fell short during Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Penn State Behrend.

With the visitors facing a 4-2 deficit, Deirdre Dick (Mansfield/Crestview) connected for a Raider goal in the 58th minute. She received an assist from Kylee Kolesar (Mentor/Mentor).

Later on, a shot by Dick hit the post in the 90th minute and prevented Mount Union from tying the score.

Behrend's Glennis Robash triggered the offensive battle, scoring in the fourth minute -- the first of her two goals.

Etling responded with back-to-back tallies.

Etling finished a shot from inside the 18-yard box, tying the game at 1-1 in the ninth minute.

With an assist from Lauren Schollaert (Medina/Medina), Etling gave the Raiders their only lead with a goal in the 20th.

Behrend (3-3) then took command with three consecutive goals.

Lindsey Steinsdoerfer tied the game at 2-2 in the 27th minute before Robash put the Lions ahead during the 32nd minute.

Meredith Gipson scored Behrend's fourth goal, tallying in the 54th minute, before Dick pulled the Raiders within one.

Taryn Vespoint (Ravenna/Ravenna) started in net for Mount Union and made one save. Aubree Lieberman (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) played the second half and stopped seven shots.

For the Lions, Robin Siegenthaler had one save to earn the win.

The Purple Raiders (1-3-2) will return to action this weekend. They will visit Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
