KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Mount Union's softball team split its two games on Tuesday, losing a 5-0 contest to Greensboro (N.C.) before claiming a 5-2 decision over Methodist (N.C.), in Rebel Spring Games action at the Fortune Road Complex.

Mara Palombaro (Boardman/Cardinal Mooney) hammered a two-run homer in the Purple Raider win against Methodist.

Bre Willis (Navarre/Fairless), the pitcher of record in both games, recovered from a rough outing against Greensboro and tossed a complete game victory in the nightcap.

The Raiders jumped ahead of Methodist with a two-run first inning; Brenna Longo (Moon, Pa./Moon) worked an RBI walk and then Jill Rader (Ashland/Ashland) smacked an RBI single.

Palombaro's dinger came in the fifth inning and increased a one-run lead to 5-2 for Mount Union.

Jasmine Bentley (Twinsburg/Twinsburg) had two hits in the win while Shelby Carmichael (Dalton/Dalton) scored twice.

Willis allowed seven hits and no earned runs in the win. She struck out four batters and walked none.

Palombaro was Mount Union's top hitter in in the loss to Greensboro, finishing with a double and single.

Willis worked 1 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits. Rachel McAninch (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) pitched the final 5 1/3 innings and did not allow an earned run.

The Raiders (4-2) will be in action next on Thursday when they take on Aurora (Ill.) and Beloit (Wis.) at 3 and 5 p.m., respectively.
