Box Score DELAWARE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's lacrosse team defeated Ohio Wesleyan 15-6 Monday at Selby Stadium in Delaware, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders have now won five games in a row and improve to 5-1 on the season while Ohio Wesleyan falls to 4-3 on the season.
Emily Sendker (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central) had a season-high six goals while her and Katherine Doraty (Medina/Medina), five goals and an assist each had six points to lead Mount Union.
Clare Byrne (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) got her first start of the season in goal for the Raiders and got 11 saves on 17 shots to pick up her first win.
Ohio Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead, before Susie Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) connected with Kolbie Haines (Hudson/Hudson) to tie the game at 1. The Battling Bishops scored three unanswered goals before the Raiders tallied three free position shot goals coming from Sendker, Kraus, and Doraty as they tied the game at 4 with 10:14 remaining in the first half.
Mount Union notched six unanswered goals to close out the first half, to go into the locker room leading 10-4,
The Raiders opened the second half scoring two goals, from Sendker and Doraty. Cate Bailey scored the remaining two goals for the Battling Bishops as Mount Union went on for the 15-6 victory.
Mount Union next hosts Wittenberg Wednesday March 26 at 7 pm at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
