Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union notched its 11th consecutive victory and won the first-ever Ohio Athletic Conference women's lacrosse game with a 14-4 win over Capital Saturday at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
The Raiders are now 11-1 overall and 1-0 in the OAC while Capital falls to 8-2 overall and 0-1 in the OAC.
Mount Union got a career-high nine points on six goals and three assists from sophomore Katherine Doraty (Medina/Medina) while Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) also had four goals.
Doraty scored the first goal of the game 28 seconds in and Capital tied the game with a goal from Kim Hoerauf at the 21:36 mark.
Mount Union scored seven more goals before halftime – two from Doraty – as the Raiders would lead 8-1 at the half.
Doraty would score two more times early in the second half as the Raiders opened the period with four straight goals to go up 12-1 and go on to the 14-4 win.
The Ohio Athletic Conference is the third oldest conference in college sports behind only the Big Ten and Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and is sponsoring men's and women's lacrosse for the first time since being founded in 1902.
Mount Union and Capital along with Baldwin Wallace, Otterbein and Wilmington have women's lacrosse. John Carroll and Muskingum will add in 2015 and with those additions will bring an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, while Ohio Northern will add in 2016 to bring the total membership to eight teams.
Mount Union plays an OAC match next Friday at 1 pm at Wilmington.
