Box Score 2 ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union's women's softball team dropped a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference games against Wilmington 7-1 and 7-0 Saturday in Wilmington, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders end the 2014 season at 14-16-1 overall and 8-10 in the OAC.
In game one, Wilmington (17-20, 8-10 OAC) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run home run from Danielle Monnier. The Raiders recorded three hits on the day and sophomore Callie Staggers (Newark/Licking Valley) drove in the Raiders only run of the game off a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. The Quakers would remain in the lead and finish the game 7-1.
On the mound, Erin Simmons (Suffield/Field) took the loss for the Raiders giving her a 4-7 record and leads the team with 66 strikeouts on the season.
In game two, the Quakers took the lead in the third inning when Catlin Shilling drove in a run off a double to left field. A Mount Union error led to another run making the score 2-0 in the bottom of the third. A five run inning by the Quakers in the bottom of the fourth made the score 7-0 leading to an 8-0 victory for Wilmington.
