Box Score NEW CONCORD, Ohio - Mount Union's men's basketball team earned an 86-66 conference win over Muskingum Wednesday night in New Concord, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders (10-4, 6-1 OAC) were led by DeAllen Jackson (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) with 18 points and Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) with 14 points. Taylor Moore (North Canton/Hoover), Nate Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) and JJ Kukura (Alliance/Alliance) each chipped in a dozen points for the Raiders.
Muskingum (4-10, 1-6 OAC) was led by Logan Kimble with 13 points and Christian Keller with 12 points.
In the first 10 minutes of the game neither team led by more than four points. The Raiders took control of the game in the next 10 minutes as they broke off an 8-0 run which was part of a larger 26-11 run to lead 42-26 at the half.
Mount Union open the second half of play with back-to-back three-pointers from Ruffin and Jacubec to lead 48-26. Later in the half the Muskies went on an 11-3 run to cut the lead to just 12, 68-56 with 7:39 left in the game. The Raiders closed the game on a 16-5 run to take their largest lead of the game, 23 points, with two minutes remaining.
The men's basketball team next plays on Saturday, January 17 against John Carroll at 3:00 pm in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
