Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio - The No. 20 Mount Union women's lacrosse team started Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 14-4 win over Capital Saturday night at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders (10-0, 1-0 OAC) were led by Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) with four goals and an assist.
Mount Union also got a pair of hat tricks from Kolbie Haines (Hudson/Hudson) and Marjie McNamara (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park). Haines led the Raider defense with four forced turnovers and eight ground balls.
Capital (6-2, 0-1 OAC) had four separate players in the scoring column while Maddie Wilson made five saves in goal for the Crusaders.
The Raiders got ahead early by scoring seven unanswered goals during the first 14:00 minutes of play. Capital got on the board with 3:11 left in the half but Pensyl answered with two of her own goals to take a 9-1 lead into halftime.
McNamara and Emily Sendker (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster Central) scored to start the second half and give Mount Union a ten goal advantage with 23:26 left to play. The Raiders and Crusaders matched each other goal for goal during the final minutes to keep the Mount Union lead at a steady ten.
The women's lacrosse team will travel to Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday, April 8 for a 7:00 pm game against the Yellow Jackets.
