ALLIANCE, Ohio - The No. 18 Mount Union women's lacrosse team won their second straight Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championship and advances to the NCAA Tournament with a 20-5 win over Baldwin Wallace Saturday at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders (18-0) were led by Katherine Doraty (Medina/Medina) and Emily Bergert (North Canton/Hoover) who each scored five goals while Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) and Susie Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) both scored three goals.

Casey McHenry (Hudson/Hudson), who runs her record to 11-0 in goal for the Raiders, made four saves in the win.

Baldwin Wallace (8-6) was led by Caitlin Wheeler who scored three goals.

Mount Union did not take long to score its first goal as Doraty raced down the field on the opening possession to score just 0:22 into the game.

Bergert and Doraty added a pair of goals to make the lead 3-0 before Baldwin Wallace got on the board with 25:40 left in the first half.

The Raiders ended the first half with nine unanswered goals, the last from Bergert at the buzzer, to take a commanding 12-1 lead into the break.

Mount Union kept the scoring pace by added eight second half goals. Wheeler scored all three of her goals in the second half but it was not enough as Mount Union went on to a 20-5 victory.

It is the first year the OAC has seven sponsored women's lacrosse programs which makes the conference eligible for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. 

Mount Union has earned the automatic bid and will hear its future during the NCAA selection show which will take place on Sunday, May 3 at 9:30 pm at ncaa.com.
