Box Score WESTERVILLE, Ohio- No. 18 Mount Union snapped a two-game losing streak defeating Otterbein , 94-61, in an Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday.
The Purple Raiders improve to 12-5, 7-2 in the OAC while Otterbein falls to 3-14, 1-9 OAC.
JJ Kukura (Alliance/Alliance) led Mount Union with 16 points. Kyle Scelza (Stow/Stow) added 15 points in his first start of the season.
Otterbein was led by Marc McCuen with 14 points and Bryan McKenzie had a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Raiders raced out to a quick start going on a 17-5 run within the first six minutes of the game. Mount Union would then extend its lead to as much as 34 points off a three pointer by Josh Duerr (Uniontown/Lake) with 2:03 remaining in the first half.
The Raiders shot almost 53-percent (19-of-36) from the field to lead 49-21 at halftime. Kukura led Mount Union with 11 points in the first half.
Mount Union continued to dominate on offense, extending its lead to 35 points off a jumper by Michael Shull (Massillon/Massillon Jackson) with 13:47 remaining in the game.
The Raiders finished shooting 55-percent from the field with 16 three-pointers and just five turnovers for the game.
Mount Union is back in action Wed., Jan. 27, at Baldwin Wallace. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start in Berea.
