ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's softball team rallied for a 6-5 win in the opener then lost 10-2 in the second game to split a pair of game with Ohio Wesleyan in the home opener Sunday at 23rd Street Field.

The loss in game two snapped a six-game win streak for the Purple Raiders and makes them 11-7 on the season while Ohio Wesleyan is 5-9 after the split.

In game one, a three-run home run by Erin Ferguson in the first inning gave Ohio Wesleyan a 3-0 lead.

Mount Union scored single runs in the first -- off an RBI ground out from Logan Lehman (Orrville/Orrville) -- and in the second with a Shelby Vansickle (Loudonville/Loudonville) sacrfice fly to make it 3-2.  

The Raiders went up 6-2 with four runs in the fifth on a bases loaded triple from Andi Vansickle (Loudonville/Loudonville) that would clear the bases and she scored on the play on a throwing error.

Ohio Wesleyan plated a run in the sixth, one in the seventh and had the tying run in scoring position before Mount Union pitcher Allie Scali (Parma/Parma) shut the door.  Scali, who improved to 6-4 on the season, got the complete game victory with a season-best nine strikeouts.   

Ohio Wesleyan got 10 runs on 14 hits in a 10-2 win in game two as Allie DeLooze pitched the complete game win.

Mount Union avoided the shutout with a two-run home run from Lehman in the fourth as pitcher Erin Simmons (Suffield/Field) took her first loss in the circle of the season (5-1).

The Raiders stay home to host Case Western Reserve Wed., March. 23 at 3 p.m. at 23rd Street Field.
