CARLISLE, Pa.—The Mount Union women's lacrosse teams suffered a 13-8 loss to Dickinson (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon. The Purple Raiders are now 1-2 on the season.
Mount Union was led by Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) with four goals while Katherine Doraty (Medina/Medina) contributed two scores of her own.
The Red Devils (1-0) were led by Anne Dunster with four goals while seven other player scored in their winning effort.
In the first half, Dickinson ran out to a quick 2-0 lead within the first four minutes of play. Pensyl's goal at the 21:21 mark put Mount Union on the board, 2-1. Another goal from her helped the Raiders tie the game, 3-3, with 12:10 remaining in the half. Dickinson went on a 3-2 run towards the end of the half to lead 6-5 at halftime.
Anne Dunster scored a goal to begin the second half to help Dickinson extend its lead to 7-5. Doraty's goal with 26:01 remaining in the game helped Mount Union tie the game again. The Red Devils then scored six unanswered goals to go up 13-7 with 8:00 remaining in the game.
Mount Union is back in action on Wednesday, March 9th, as they travel to Oberlin. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m.
