Box Score 2 ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's softball team lost a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference games to John Carroll Wednesday in Alliance, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders lost game one 4-1 and fell to the Blue Streaks again in the second game 5-3 which makes their record 18-12 overall and 4-4 in the OAC while John Carroll is 12-10 overall and 6-4 in the OAC.
In game one, Mount Union took the lead in the bottom of the first with Andi Vansickle (Loudonville/Loudonville) getting on base by an error running in Brittany Baitt (Painsville/Riverside).
The Blue Streaks tied it up in the top of the third with one run. The game then had five scoreless innings making it an eight inning game.
John Carroll scored three more runs in the top of the eighth while Mount Union could not get a run in the bottom taking the 4-1 loss.
On the mound, Allie Scali (Parma/Parma) took the loss now being 9-7 on the season. Scali had 11 strikeouts and allowed seven hits.
In game two, John Carroll jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three runs in the third and had another run in the fourth.
Mount Union tried to make a comeback in the fourth scoring two runs off a Torie Gable (Norman/Norman) and a Jordan Tull (/) single RBI's and another run in the fifth with a single RBI from Jessica Calhoun (Brunswick/Brunswick).
The Blue Streaks scored one more run in the seventh making the score 5-3 with the Raiders not being able to score in the bottom.
Taking the loss was Erin Simmons (Suffied/Field) making it her third loss this season.
Mount Union next travels to Ohio Northern Friday, April 15 for an OAC doubleheader at 3:00 pm in Ada.
