Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse program edged Baldwin Wallace, 9-8, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday evening at Mount Union Stadium.
The Purple Raiders improve to 11-3 and 5-0 in the OAC while Baldwin Wallace falls to 9-5 and 2-2 in the OAC.
Mount Union was led by Susie Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) with a game-high four goals. Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) recorded ten groundballs for the Raiders.
Baldwin Wallace was led by Maddie Russell, who chipped in three goals.
Mount Union raced out to a 5-1 lead within the first ten minutes of play. Doraty scored two goals early to give the Raiders their first lead of the game, 2-1, at the 15:41 mark. Mount Union gained momentum and scored four more unanswered goals to lead 6-1. BW's Patrick and Russell scored in the later stages of the half to gain some momentum and cut the deficit down to three, 6-3. The Raiders led 6-3 at the break. Mount Union recorded seven points and 19 groundballs.
Kraus scored again in the early stages of the second half to make the score 7-3 for the Raiders. The Yellow Jackets answered back immediately when Kayla Miller scored at the 23:56 mark, 7-4. Baldwin Wallace then went on a 3-1 to cut the lead down to one, 8-7, with 10:23 remaining in the game. BW's Russell tied the game off a goal of own with 03:41 remaining. Kolbie Haines (Hudson/Hudson) scored the game-winning goal for the Raiders with 00:47 to give them the 9-8 edge and secure their sixth consecutive win. Mount Union recorded 14 points and 41 groundballs.
Mount Union is back in action on Saturday, April 23rd, as they travel to Capital for an OAC matchup. The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
