Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team clinched the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title with 20-4 victory over Otterbein on Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.
The Purple Raiders improve to 13-3 and 7-0 in the OAC while Otterbein falls to 5-10 and 3-4 in the OAC.
Emily Sendker (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster Central) scored a game-high five goals for the Raiders. She also recorded three assists for a total of eight points on the day. Marjie McNamara (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) recorded a game-high four assists on the day.
The Cardinals were led by Nicole Coccagno, who recorded two goals.
After a close battle in the beginning, Mount Union raced out to a 6-1 lead within the first six minutes of play. Susie Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) scored for the Raiders to help extend their lead with 10:55 remaining in the first half of play. Mount Union continued its momentum to lead 9-3 at halftime.
The Raiders surged to begin the second half of play, when Kraus and Katherine Doraty (Medina/Medina) scored two early goals for Mount Union to make the score 11-3. Mount Union then went on a 9-1 to end the game. The Raiders never surrendered their lead and recorded 35 points and 19 groundballs for the win.
The top-seeded Raiders will be back in action on Wednesday, May 4, as they host the semifinals of the OAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The game will begin at 7:00 pm.
