Box Score ADA, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team defeated Ohio Northern, 22-5, in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in Ada.
The Purple Raiders, now 8-3 and 2-0 in the OAC, were led by Marjie McNamara (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) with a game-high four goals. Eleven total Raiders scored to contribute to the win and remain undefeated in conference play.
The Polar Bears, now 5-5, 0-1 in the OAC, were led by Maggie Fuller with three goals.
Mount Union raced out to a 4-0 lead within the first five minutes of play off a goal by Emily Bergert (North Canton/Hoover). Fulller got Ohio Northern on the board shortly after with a goal of her own with 22:15 remaining in the half. Ashley Bernardi (Medina/Medina) gave the Raiders their largest lead of half by scoring a goal at the 1:40 mark to go up 13, 15-2. Mount Union sustained its lead going into halftime.
Fuller scored within the first three minutes of the second half of play for Ohio Northern to give the Polar Bears some momentum. The Raiders immeadiately responded when Katie Elder (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park)scored with 27:15 remaining in the half to make the score 16-3. Mount Union went on a 6-2 run to earn the win. For the game, the Raiders recorded 20 groundballs, 42 points, and 18 caused turnovers.
Mount Union is back in action on Wednesday, April 13th, as the Raiders travel to John Carroll for an OAC contest. The game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Don Shula Stadium.
