Box Score 2 WILMINGTON, Ohio- Mount Union's softball team ends their season with splitting a pair of games with Wilimington in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader Sunday.
Senior Andi Vansickle (Loudonville/Loudonville) hit three home runs, went 6-5 on the day and tied the school record of RBI's in a season with 46 in her last games as a Purple Raider.
Sophomore Brittany Baitt (Painsville/Riverside) also tied a school record with hits in a season having 68.
The Raiders lost to the Fightin' Quakers in the first game, 3-2, and defeated Wilmington, 8-0, in six innings in the second game.
In game one, the Raiders and the Quakers started off with three scoreless innings until Andi Vansickle hit a single run home run to take a 1-0 lead over Wilmington in the top of the fourth.
Wilmington tied up the game with a single to center field in the bottom of the fourth making the score 1-1.
With another Vansickle homerun the Raiders led the Quakers 2-1 going into the bottom of the seventh.
The Quakers didn't let the two homeruns from Vansickle stop them scoring two unearned runs in the bottom of the 7th defeating the Raiders 3-2.
On the mound for the Raiders, junior Allie Scali (Parma/Parma) pitched 6.2 innings with eight strikeouts ending her season record at 11-10.
In game two, the Raiders ran in three runs in the top of the second with sophomore Shelby Vansickle (Loudonville/Loudonville) running one run in and sophomore Jordan Tull (Brewster/Fairless) running in two making the score 3-0.
An error by Wilmington brought in one Raider in the top of the third, Shelby Vansickle, leading the Quakers 4-0.
With Andi Vansickles third home run of the day, the Raiders scored three more runs in the top of the fourth making the score 7-0.
Mount Union scored their last run, in the top of the sixth, ran in by sophomore Jenna Liles (Sterling/Norwayne), to lead Wilmington 8-0 in the top of the sixth.
The Quakers could not get a run in the bottom of the sixth, allowing the Raiders to close out the game in six innings.
Senior Erin Simmons (Suffield/Field) pitched six innings having three strikeouts and allowing only five hits. Simmons ended her senior season record at 12-5.
