Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio—Top seeded Mount Union women's lacrosse team advances to the championship of the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament with an 11-4 victory over No.4 seed Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday night at Mount Union Stadium.
The Purple Raiders improve to 14-3 while Baldwin Wallace finishes the season with an 11-7 mark.
Mount Union was led by Emily Bergert (North Canton/Hoover) who recorded a game-high four goals. Katherine Doraty (Medina/Medina) chpped in three assists for the Raiders while Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) contributed nine groundballs in the effort.
Baldwin Wallace was led by Emma Harding who scored two goals.
The Yellow Jackets took the first command of the game when Caitlin Wheeler scored within the first ten minutes of play. Mount Union then gained momentum and went on a 3-0 run to take a 4-1 off a goal by Susie Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) at the 03:05 mark. Harding scored in the last minute of the half but the Raiders still led 4-2 going into halftime.
Mount Union surged in the beginning of the second half, scoring four unanswered goals within the first 15 minutes. Katie Kocher stymied the run with a score at the 12:58 mark, making the score 8-3. Mount Union sealed the victory by scoring three of the last four goals. The Raiders recorded 33 groundballs, 18 points, and won 14 draw controls in the win.
The Raiders are back in action on Saturday, May 7th, as they will host the No.2 seed Capital for the OAC Women's Lacrosse Championship. Start Time will be announced at a later date.
