WOOSTER, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team rose to fifth place with a score of 495 after day two of the Wooster Invitational on Friday in the Timken Natatorium.
Senior Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon) led the way for the Purple Raiders as she finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.07
Lautenschleger was also a member of two relay teams on the day. In the 200 yard medley relay, she was teamed up with freshman Lauren Stajcar (Strongsville/Strongsville), and sophomores Elise Pichola (Rocky River/Rocky River) and Erin Bain (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) where the finished eighth with a time of 1:52.24. In the 800 yard freestyle relay, she was teamed with junior Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick/Brunswick)and seniors Ann Zielasko (Silver Lake/Hoban) and Megan Leibensperger (Uniontown/Green)where they finished in 12th place with a time of 8:14.89.
In the 100 yard breastroke, Stajcar had a sixth place finish with a time of 1:08.15 while Oktavec had a 12th place finish with a time of 1:01.45. Senior Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) also had a 17th place finish in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.45.
In diving, freshman Sarah Hrycyk (Massillon/Jackson) placed fifth at the one meter dive with a score of 308.65 which was good enough for 25 points.
The final day of the Wooster Invitational is Saturday with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. and finals beginning at 5 p.m.
