Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's lacrosse team got a career-high five goals from Marjie McNamara (Champlain, Minn./Champlin Park) in a 20-10 win at Wittenberg Thursday in Springfield.
Mackenzie Pensyl (Kent/Roosevelt), Ashley Bernardi (Medina/Medina) and Britt Klosterman (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) each scored three as seven different players scored for the Purple Raiders, who are now 2-1 on the season.
Wittenberg got four goals from Emily Wadds and is now 4-2 on the year.
Mount Union scored four goals in the opening 11 minutes to take a 4-0 lead but Wittenberg rallied with three straight goals to close to 4-3 at the 15:54 mark.
Mount Union scored seven of the next eight goals -- three from McNamara -- to lead 11-4 at the half.
The teams each scored three goals to start the second half and after Pensyl tallied a goal the Raiders led 14-7 with 24 minutes left.
Wittenberg scored two more goals to get within five, 14-9 with 20 minutes to play.
Mount Union then scored six of the final seven including three woman-up goals from McNamara, Pensyl and Bernardi for the 20-10 final.
The Raiders next host Notre Dame (Ohio) Tuesday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
