Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's lacrosse team was topped by Ohio Athletic Conference opponent John Carroll University Wednesday night at Mount Union Stadium, 14-11.
Sophomore Ashley Bernardi (Medina/Medina) led Mount Union (6-3, 2-1 OAC) with four goals.
The Blue Streaks (6,3, 1-1 OAC) were led by Gina Vilsack, who recorded six goals and an assist.
John Carroll got on the board 2:58 into the first half before Mount Union responded with four straight goals, two of which came back-to-back from junior Britt Klosterman (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe), to take a 4-1 lead with just under 20 minutes to play.
The Blue Streaks answered with four unanswered goals regain the lead. Klosterman scored her third goal of the half to tie the game at five; freshman Mackenzie Pensyl (Kent/Roosevelt) and sophomore Ashley Bernardi (Medina/Medina) each followed with a goal to put the Raiders up 7-5 at the half.
Bernardi tallied her third goal of the game in the opening minutes of the second half to put Mount Union ahead of John Carroll 8-5. The Blue Streaks scored six unanswered goals to take an 11-8 lead before Bernardi struck again to cut John Carroll's lead to two goals.
Three more goals by John Carroll had Mount Union trailing 14-9 with 11:55 on the clock. Pensyl and freshman Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md./Sherwood) notched two additional goals in the half but the Raiders fell short, ending the game with a 14-11 score in John Carroll's favor.
Mount Union next hosts Otterbein in an OAC match-up Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
