Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Sophomore Ashley Bernardi (Medina/Medina) scored a career-high five goals in the Mount Union women's lacrosse team's 19-2 win over Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Otterbein University Saturday night at Mount Union Stadium.
Mount Union improves to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the OAC, while Otterbein falls to 5-6 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.
The Raiders got on the board just under two minutes into the game when junior Katie Elder (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) fired the ball into the back of Otterbein's goal. Elder followed with her second goal just over a minute later before junior Britt Klosterman (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) scored her first goal of the game. Elder notched her third goal of the half with 25:25 remaining to give Mount Union a 4-0 lead over the Cardinals.
Klosterman recorded her second goal 12 seconds later. Sophomore Alyssa Rydell (Medina/Medina) tallied three goals in the half, while freshman Mackenzie Pensyl (Kent/Roosevelt) and Bernardi each added two to the Raider's 14 first-half goals. Half of Mount Union's goals included an assist.
Mount Union outscored Otterbein 5-2 in the second half. Bernardi recorded three of Mount Union's goals, while Klosterman and Elder added the other two, leading the Raiders to a 19-2 victory.
The Purple Raiders next travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on the Capital Crusaders on Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m.
