Box Score ANGOLA, Ind. -- Mount Union men's basketball senior guard Nathan Bower-Malone (Stow) became the 32nd player in school history to score over 1,000 career points as the Purple Raiders lost at Trine (Ind.) 80-78 Sunday at the MTI Center.
Bower-Malone scored the first six Raider points to achieve the 1,000 point mark.
Sophomore Collen Gurley (Akron / Hoban) led the Raiders in the first half with 11 of his 19 points but Mount Union trailed Trine (3-2) 38-34 at the break.
Mount Union (2-2) was down 73-64 with 2:22 left when Bower-Malone scored the final 14 points for the Raiders finishing a game tying layup with 24 seconds left.
Trine got a running layup from Marcus Winters with 2.4 seconds left to give Trine an 80-78 lead. Mount Union then missed a potential game-winner off the front of the rim as time expired.
Bower-Malone finished with 26 points, seven assists, and six rebounds while Mount Union also got a double-double effort from sophomore Braedon Poole (McDonald) with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Trine (3-2) was led by Langston Johnson who scored 31 points.
Mount Union next plays at No. 21 ranked Wooster Wednesday, November 27 at 7 p.m. in Wooster, Ohio.
