Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Mount Union's softball team split a pair of games Sunday at Osceola County Softball Complex.

The Purple Raiders (2-2) lost to Mount St. Joseph (5-3) 5-3 in their first game of the day and then defeated Stockton (0-1) 7-4.

In game one, Mount St. Joseph got on the board in the top of the first with an RBI double but Mount Union was able to respond in the bottom of the third on an RBI from senior Emily Hume (Minerva), scoring Savannah Miner (Louisville).

After a scoreless fourth inning, Mount St. Joseph added a pair of runs in the fifth followed by another RBI single for Hume, scoring Brooklyn Hellman (Canton/Massillon Jackson) as Mount Union would trail by one, 3-2. A two-run homer for Mount St. Joseph extended their lead to 5-2 in the top of the seventh and the Raiders were only able to send Miner home on a groundout RBI from Allie Goldy (Painesville/Riverside) before the end of the game; Mount St. Joseph winning 5-3.

Freshman pitcher Peyton Morrison (Canton/GlenOak) falls to 0-2 after five innings pitched with five hits, three runs, three walks and a pair of strikeouts. Freshman Ashley Cascio (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) came in as relief and threw two innings with three hits, two runs, two walks and three strikeouts.

Against Stockton (N.J.), Mount Union scored in every inning up until the sixth. Miner and Natalie Martin (Millersburg/West Holmes) led the offense; Miner driving in two runs and Martin going 2-for-2 with a walk. Hume and Lindsay Gable (Norton) also had RBIs in the game to account for the Raiders' runs.

Starting pitcher Alexandra Pasco (Wadsworth/Highland) improves to 2-0 as she held Stockton scoreless through five innings for the win while allowing only three hits with six strikeouts. Cheyanne Bosse (Montville/Berkshire) came in as relief but would give up four runs.

Mount Union returns to Leesburg, Fla. for a pair of games Monday at Sleepy Hollow against Scranton (Pa.) at 9:30 a.m. and Marywood (Pa.) at 11:45 a.m.
