Men's Volleyball: Raiders Finish First Season With Loss at Messiah

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- Mount Union wrapped up its inaugural men's volleyball season with a 25-13, 25-22, 25-18 loss at Messiah (Pa.) Saturday in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

The Purple Raiders finished the year with an 8-20 mark.

Freshman hitter Mark Bruns (Columbus / Upper Arlington) had a match-high eight kills and finished the season with a team-best 367.

Freshman setter Jeremy Leyden (Cuyahoga Falls / Akron Hoban) also had a match-high with 21 assists along with three blocks and paced the Raiders on the season with 921 helpers.

Freshman defensive specalist Steven Grenier (Hawthorn Woods, Ill. / Lake Zurich) tallied a match-best 11 digs and topped the team with 278 digs this season.

Messiah moved to 16-7 on the season with the win.
