Softball: Raiders Swept at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Mount Union's softball team suffered a pair of losses at Muskingum, 11-3 and 18-4, Tuesday in New Concord.

The Purple Raiders are now 12-10 overall and 0-4 in the OAC while Muskingum is 20-4 overall and alone in first place in the conference at 4-0.

Mount Union fell behind 5-0 in the first inning of game one but rallied with a three-run second inning as Morgan Riley (Charleroi, Pa.) had a two-run double while Savannah Miner (Louisville) had an RBI single to make it 5-3. The Muskies then scored six unanswered with four in the third and two in the fourth for the 11-3 final in five innings.

Alexandra Pasco (Wadsworth / Highland) took just her second loss of the season pitching for the Raiders.

The second game was just like the first as Muskingum had an eight-run first inning and again Mount Union scored three in the second on a home run from Amanda Saxon (Boardman). Muskingum scored two more in the bottom of the second to lead 10-3. Mount Union scored once more in the third on a Payton Guspyt (Port Washington / Indian Valley) double to close to 10-4 but the Muskies posted an eight-run fourth for the 18-4 final in five innings.

Mount Union plays another OAC doubleheader Wednesday, April 3 at Baldwin Wallace at 3 p.m. in Berea.
