The Matchup: No. 4 ranked Mount Union plays at Marietta closes out the regular season in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Saturday, Nov. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Don Drumm Stadium.
Mount Union (9-0, 8-0) clinched a share of its 32nd Ohio Athletic Conference football title with a 73-7 win against Muskingum last Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.
Mount Union scored 42 points in the second quarter and 63 points in the first half as the defense held the Muskies to 67 yards for the half.
Josh Petruccelli (Perry) ran for four touchdowns and his 69 yards rushing pushed him into third place on the school's all-time rushing list.
DeAndre Parker (Crystal River, Fla.) also ran for three touchdowns pn 76 yards rushing.
Braxton Plunk (Plant City, Fla.) completed 11-of-12 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown,
Wayne Ruby (Miami, Fla. / Flanagan) had 111 yards receiving on four catches as the starters played in just the first half.
The defense held the Muskies to 122 yards for the game, along with four sacks while
Kordell Ford (Massillon / Massillon Washington) and
John Roland (Northville, Mich.) each had an interception for the Raiders.
Bryce Agnew ran for 131 yards and four touchdowns to lead Marietta (4-4, 4-5 OAC) to a 56-7 home win over Otterbein The 56 points was the most for the Pioneers since the 2018 season.
The Series: This is the 60th meeting between the teams with Mount Union holding a 50-8-1 lead in the series dating back to a 20-0 Mount Union win on September 23, 1933 in Alliance. The teams have met every year since 1981 and Mount Union has won all 40 of those meetings. The last Pioneer win was a 20-6 decision in 1977 in Marietta. In the spring of this year, the Raiders scored a 20-3 win in Alliance.

Around the OAC: The Cuyahoga Gold Bowl headlines the OAC schedule as Baldwin Wallace hosts cross-town rival John Carroll at 1 p.m. in Berea. Heidelberg can lock down third place with a win at Ohio Northern while the other two games feature Muskingum at Capital and Wilmington at Otterbein.
Scouting the Pioneers: Four of Marietta's losses are by nine points or less. The nine point loss was a 19-10 defeat to then nationally ranked John Carroll.
Marietta is third in the OAC in total defense (298.9 yards per game) and seventh in total offense (347.4 yards per game).
Senior linebacker Drake Neuberger leads the OAC with 19.0 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks. Fellow senior linebacker Vic Giovengo
is among conference leaders with a team-best 64 tackles and three interceptions.
As a unit the Pioneers have 69 tackles for loss and 26 sacks on the season.
On offense, junior running back Bryce Agnew is the OAC's leading rusher averaging 121.4 yards per game. He has seven 100-yard rushing games and nine rushing TD's this season. He is also the Pioneers leading receiver with 37 catches for 368 yards and two touchdowns.
Getting Agnew the ball is sophomore quarterback Connor Vierstra, who has 61-percent of his passes for 1710 yards with 18 TDs and 10 interceptions.
That 70's Show: Mount Union scored a season-high 73 points last week in a 73-7 win against Muskingum. It was the most points the Raiders had scored in a game since beating Capital 77-3 on October 13, 2018. Mount Union is currently sixth in the nation in scoring offense averaging 50.4 points per game.
Return to Sender: Mount Union's
Ray Williams returned a punt 73 yards for a touchdown last week against Muskingum. It was the first time the Raiders have returned a punt for a touchdown since Justin Hill took one back 63 yards for a score against Denison in an NCAA Playoff game in 2018.
Titletown: The win last week allowed Mount Union to clinch at least a share of its record 32nd OAC football title. Mount Union won its first conference title in 1985 meaning the Raiders have claimed title in 32 of the last 37 seasons. The title also earns the Raiders the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs. It will be Mount Union's 32nd NCAA playoff appearance.
Road to Canton: The bracket for the 2021 NCAA Division III Football Playoffs will be unveiled Sunday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. on an online selection show at ncaa.com. First round playoff games are Saturday, Nov. 20 on campus sites at noon local time. The championship game -- the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl -- will be played Friday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
