Box Score BEREA, Ohio-- Mount Union's women's lacrosse team defeated Baldwin Wallace 14-10 Wednesday night in the 2020 Ohio Athletic Conference season opener at George Finnie Stadium.
Mount Union (1-0, 1-0) outscored Baldwin Wallace 8-4 in the second half to take the victory.
Senior Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calif.) had five goals and three assists while junior Mackenzie Lewis (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) had five goals and two assists.
Senior Kaitlyn Murphy (Lexington, Va. / Rockbridge County) scored two goals while sophomore Sam Karr (Newark Charter, Del. / Newark Charter) and freshman Ashley Carr (Livonia, N.Y. / Livonia) scored one goal to lead the Purple Raiders.
Baldwin Wallace (0-1, 0-1) got three goals from Maddie Ray in taking its first loss of the season.
Mount Union started the year scoring the first goal from Bumbarger 1:27 into the contest. Baldwin Wallace came back and scored the next goal to tie the game at 1.
Bumbarger gave Mount Union the lead and then Karr scored with an assist from Bumbarger giving the Raiders a 3-1 lead five minutes into the first half.
Baldwin Wallace came back with the next two goals to bring the game to a tie at 3.

Baldwin Wallace tied the game up but with 19 minutes left Bumbarger scored once again assisted by Lewis to take an 8-7 lead.

Carr scored her first career goal with 4:38 remaining in the game while Lewis assisted by Karr and Murphy assisted by freshman Tara Santoro (Canfield) finished the game for the Raiders while Baldwin Wallace grabbed a goal right at the end of the game to finish the game 14-10.
Senior goalkeeper Molly McGinnis (Brunswick) had six saves on the night and only allowed four goals in the second half for Mount Union.
Mount Union is back in action Saturday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. playing in its home opener against Heidelberg.
