Box Score 2 ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union men's volleyball team (10-2, 6-2 MCVL) swept a doubleheader Trine (Ind.) (7-5, 7-5) in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League doubleheader matchup Sunday afternoon at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
Mount Union swept Trine in the first match, 3-0, with scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-14. Senior Justin Sibbel (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) had 10 kills in the first match, to go along with 9 digs. Sophomore Andrew Cross (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Louis University High) had 12 points in the first match with 9 kills. The Raiders had 40 kills in the opening match, compared to Trine's 24. Mount Union also out-blocked the Thunder, 4-1.
The Thunder were led by Parker Beale, who led the team with 8 kills.
In the second match, Mount Union won the first set, 28-25, for their 16th straight-set win, but had that streak snapped when Trine won the second set, 25-19. However, the Raiders would come back to take the next two sets, 25-23 and 25-19. The match win secured the Raiders' eighth straight match win, the longest win streak in program history.
Sibbel led the Raiders in kills once again in the second match with 12. Steven Grenier (Hawthorn Woods, Ill. / Lake Zurich) led the club in digs with 17 in the second match.
Mount Union now gets set to host Penn State-Behrend this coming Thursday at 7:00 pm.
