Raiders Set Two Top-5 NCAA Division III Marks This Weekend

ALLIANCE, Ohio. – The Mount Union track and field teams won nine events at the Raider Tune-Up Saturday Afternoon along with setting the second fastest men's 4x400-meter relay Division III time Friday night in Findlay, Ohio.
 
The quartet of senior Tyler Gill (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds), and juniors Jared Storm (Barberton), Matthew McBride (Conneaut) and Justin Knoch (Canton / GlenOak) ran a 3:16.65 putting them second in Division III.
 
The men's high jump crew took five out of the top six spots with senior Tanner Slack (New Concord / John Glenn) jumping a season-best 6-feet 9.5-inches to sit fifth in Division III. Senior Evan Hershberger (Dalton) and sophomore Elijah Cobb (Mansfield / St. Peter's) finished in second with jumps of 6-feet 6.75-inches.
 
Seniors Bri Aveni (Geneva) and Emily Phillips (Chardon) finished first and second in the pole vault with Aveni jumping 11-feet .25-inches.
 
The men's pole vault team took the top three spots with junior Kyel Wolff (Cleveland / Cuyahoga Heights) winning with a leap of 16-feet 4-inches while sophomores Matt Polcyn (North Royalton) and Dillon Cox (Chardon) finished second and third.
 
Sophomore Lauren Roncone (North Canton / Hoover) won the women's long jump with a jump of 18-feet 1.75-inches.
 
Freshman Jonah Bacho (Boardman) grabbed the win in men's shot put with a throw of 48-feet 4.75-inches.
 
Freshman Kyree Long (Austintown / Austintown-Fitch) won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds.
 
Senior Nick Gill (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds) won the men's 500-meters with a time of 1:08.31.
 
Freshman duo Michaela Davis (Wadsworth) and Caitlyn Gatta (Louisville) finished first and second in the women's 1,000-meters with times of 3:17.01 and 3:19.12.
 
Senior Cortni Arp (Copley) took the win in 26.74 seconds in the women's 200-meters while freshman Danaysha Mauzy (Cortland / Lakeview) finished second.
 
Mount Union hosts the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday Feb. 25-26 with events beginning at noon on Friday.
