WOOSTER, Ohio – Mount Union's men's track and field team picked up four victories including two top 5 national marks at the Wooster Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Seniors
Tanner Slack (New Concord / John Glenn) and
Evan Hershberger (Dalton) finished first and second with heights of 6-feet 8-inches and 6-feet 6.75-inches good for second and tied for fourth in NCAA Division III.
Freshman
Drake Willenborg (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon East) grabbed a victory in the javelin with a toss of 151-feet 8-inches and the discus with 146-feet 9-inches. Willenborg also picked up a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 147-feet.
Senior
Zack Munchick (Westfield Center / Cloverleaf) ran 11.07 to win the 100 Meters.
Junior
Jeff Joseph (Beloit / West Branch) finished second in the 5,000 Meters with a time of 14:54.53 and sophomore
Vincent Giumenti (Dover) grabbed third in the 5,000 with a time of 15:01.74.
Freshman duo of
Jahdon Wimbush (Northfield / Nordonia) and
Aidan Malloy (League City, Tx. / Clear Springs) took second and third in long jump with jumps of 21-feet 6.25-inches and 20-feet 9-inches.
Senior
Carson Troyer (Sugarcreek / Garaway) finished runner-up in the 110-Meter hurdles in a time of 15.26.
Junior
Matthew McBride (Conneaut) ran a 1:56.26 to take second in the 800-Meters.
Senior
Marcus Ryder (Mercer, Pa.) took third in the 3,000 Meter steeplechase running a 10:23.87.
Freshman
Jonah Bacho (Boardman) threw 43-feet 10-inches to finish third in the shot put.
Mount Union hosts the
John Homon Open next Friday and Saturday, April 8th and 9th.
