Sydney Bumbarger Breaks Career Goals Record in OAC Victory

Box Score WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Senior Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calif.) tied her career-high with scored seven goals and picked up her 206th career goal breaking the school record in a 16-12 win over Otterbein Saturday afternoon.
 
Bumbarger scored her 206th goal in the third period breaking a tie between her and Danielle Rohrman who had the record since 2020.
 
Julia Bates (East Lyme, Conn.) scored three goals for the Purple Raiders (11-3, 6-1 OAC) while Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) scored two and Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit), Emily Funk (Strongsville), Ashley Carr (Livonia, N.Y.) and Emily Nannaronne (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) each scored one goal.
 
Otterbein (7-7, 5-3 OAC) was led by Carli Rigel with xxx goals.
 
Bumbarger got the Raiders going with the first goal of the game. Otterbein then scored the next four goals. Mount Union responded with the last two goals of the first quarter one from Bates and Bumbarger to trail 4-3.
 
Otterbein scored the first goal but two goals from Kesler and a goal each from Bumbarger, Clark, Funk, and Nannarone gave Mount Union a 9-5 lead. Otterbein and Mount Union traded goals to end the half with Carr scoring the goal for Mount Union.
 
The Raiders came out in the third quarter with two goals from Bates and a goal from Bumbarger to push the lead out to 13-6. Otterbein went on a 4-1 run but in that run Bumbarger scored her 206th career goal.
 
Bumbarger tacked on two more goals as did Otterbein to finish the game with Mount Union winning 16-12.
 
Mount Union finishes its season with Senior Day at home with a matchup against John Carroll on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m.
