Men’s Basketball: No. 5 Raiders Have Five Players Score in Double-Digits in Win at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The No. 5 ranked Mount Union men's basketball team won, 97-85, at Wilmington in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action on Saturday.

The Purple Raiders (19-2, 12-2 OAC), who never trailed in the game, took an early double-digit lead when senior Collen Gurley (Akron / Hoban) made a jumper with just under 14 minutes to go in the first half to put Mount up 16-6. Mount had a comfortable 47-33 lead at halftime. First-year Corey Hudson (Columbus / Pickerington) and junior Christian Parker (Canton / GlenOak) led the Raiders at halftime already in double-figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Mount maintained its double-digit lead for the majority of the second half. Wilmington (6-15, 2-12 OAC) cut the lead to eight (88-80) with three minutes left, but that would be the closest the Quakers would get.

Parker led five Raiders in double-digits with a game-high 22 points, including tying a career- and game-high three three-pointers. Hudson tied a career-best with 17 points, followed by senior Jeffery Mansfield (Wilmington / Wilmington) with 16. Graduate students Braedon Poole (McDonald / McDonald) totaled 15 points, while Gurley had 10. Parker was one rebound away from a double-double with a game-high nine rebounds. Poole added seven boards.

Mount shot 50.0% (32-64) from the field and scored 24 points off Wilmington turnovers. Gurley earned a game-best four steals.

The Raiders are back on the court Wednesday, Feb. 8 when they travel to OAC foe Marietta with a 7 p.m. tip.
