WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Mount Union's softball team was picked to finish first in the Ohio Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Purple Raiders finished last season 38-11, going 14-4 in the OAC, winning both the regular season and tournament titles in the OAC and made it all the way to the NCAA Regional Final. Mount Union returns three All-Region selections in junior
Adri George (Eastlake / North), sophomore
Sydney Mercer (Salem / West Branch) and sophomore
Kendyll Cahill (Grove Port / Grove Port Madison), Cahill was also named the OAC Pitcher and Rookie of the Year last season. Sophomores
Faith Kiko (North Canton / Hoover) and
Lydia Brunner (Minerva) who were both All-OAC selections last season are also back for the Raiders. Mount Union also brings back sophomore
Faith Reicosky (North Canton / Hoover) who was named to the Cleveland Regional All-Tournament team last season.
The Raiders open their season on Saturday, March 2 at 9:15 a.m. against Concordia (Minn.) in Kissimmee, Fla.
