GREENWOOD, Ind. – Mount Union's men's soccer team had five players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® team.
Seniors
Zander Plizga (Gibsonia, Pa. / Hampton),
Reese Utter (Dover) and
Aiden Strand-Fox (Wooster) were all named, along with junior
Alex Depperschmidt (Mansfield / Lexington) and sophomore
Jakob Sacher (Buffalo, N.Y. / Nichols).
Plizga is a Sport Business major with a 3.96 GPA. He played and started in all 20 games for Mount Union this season and scored two goals and recorded six assists. Plizga was also named Third Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference earlier this year.
Utter is an Exercise Science major with a 3.88 GPA. He played and started in 18 games this season for the Purple Raiders, he scored six goals and had an assist. Utter also got named All-OAC earlier this year, getting named to the Second Team.
Strand-Fox is a Criminal Justice and Sociology major with a 3.9 GPA. He also played and started in all 20 games this season and had an assist and helped anchor a defense that held opponents to 1.55 goals per game this season.
Depperschmidt is a Finance major with a 3.83 GPA. He played in 19 games and started 18 for Mount Union this season and led the team with 13 goals and also had five assists on the season. Depperschmidt was also named First Team All-OAC and was named the OAC Defender of the Year earlier this year.
Sacher is a Biology major with a 3.75 GPA. He played in 15 games, starting 13 for the Raiders this season and scored a goal and was also a key part of the defense that held opponents to 1.55 goals per game.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Dec. 16, 2025 (men) and Dec. 17, 2025 (women).
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
