Softball: Nine Raiders Named to All-OAC Teams; Cahill Named Pitcher of the Year; Simons and Staff Named Staff of the Year

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Mount Union's softball team had nine athletes named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference Teams.

Senior Sydney Mercer (Salem / West Branch), sophomore Allison Jones (Berlin Center / Western Reserve), freshman Addy Antonetz (Zanesville / West Muskingum), freshman Alli Hodgkinson (Akron / Manchester) and senior Kendyll Cahill (Groveport / Groveport Madison) were all named First Team. Freshman Grace Bates (Mount Vernon) and sophomore Emma Reemsnyder (Canton / GlenOak) were both named Second Team, while seniors Lydia Brunner (Minerva) and Faith Reicosky (North Canton / Hoover) were both named Honorable Mention.

Head coach Meghan Simons and assistant coaches Jillia Cook and Erika Warren were also named the Donna J. Newbury OAC Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the Purple Raiders to a 29-6 record overall and going 15-1 in OAC play, winning their third OAC Regular Season Championship in the past four seasons. They also led Mount Union to their highest ranking in program history when they were ranked no. 11 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 Coaches Poll this season.

Cahill was also named the John Wells OAC Pitcher of the Year after posting a 19-2 record on the season and a 1.94 ERA and recording 84 strikeouts across 23 appearances and 21 starts. Cahill also played and started in 34 games for the Raiders this season, recording a .404 batting average with 12 doubles, two home runs and 19 RBIs and also broke the school record for career wins this season.

Mercer played and started in all 35 games for Mount Union this season, finishing with a .391 batting average, recording 45 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, one home run, 23 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. She also broke the school records for career runs, RBIs, hits and doubles this season.

Jones played in all 35 games and started 34 for the Raiders this season and led the team in batting average with a .417, recording 35 hits, one double, five triples, 13 RBIs and nine stolen bases on the season.

Antonetz also played and started in all 35 games for the Raiders this season, finishing with a .383 batting average, with 44 hits, nine doubles, one triple and led the team in home runs with six and RBIs with 37 and also had three stolen bases on the season.

Hodgkinson played in 26 games and started 22 for Mount Union this season. She finished with a .338 batting average with five doubles, a home run, 22 RBIs and six stolen bases on the season.

Bates played in 30 games and started 28 for the Raiders this season, finishing with a .351 batting average with seven doubles, four home runs and 23 RBIs on the season.

Reemsnyder finished with a 6-1 record on the season and recorded a 1.15 ERA across 55 innings on the season. She struck out 32 batters, only allowing 11 runs, nine earned and recording a save on the year.

Brunner played and started in all 35 games for Mount Union this season, finishing with a .326 batting average with seven doubles, one triple, two home runs, 20 RBIs and four stolen bases on the season.

Reicosky played and started in 29 games for the Raiders this season. She finished with a .306 batting average with two doubles, 15 RBIs and five stolen bases on the season.
