The Purple Raiders host Heidelberg for the 70th time in their Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opener at home on Saturday. Mount holds a 56-13 advantage in the all-time series, including 37 straight wins over the Student Princes. The Raiders won, 38-6, at Heidelberg last season. Mount Union's last loss to the Student Princes was on Sept. 24, 1988 (L, 24-14). In the last 48 meetings (since 1978), the Raiders hold a 47-1 record. Since Heidelberg lost to Mount Union in 2025, the Student Princes have won five of their last six games, including the first two to start the 2026 season. Heidelberg already had its OAC opener with a 38-0 shutout at Otterbein to claim the Rhine River Cup. Saturday marks the first time in 38 seasons that Mount Union will start its OAC schedule against Heidelberg; last was in 1989, when Mount Union won 36-13 at Alliance.
