Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Mount Union's baseball team suffered 7-6 and 4-2 non-conference losses at Wittenberg Saturday in Springfield, Ohio.
The sweep leaves Mount Union at 8-4 overall while Wittenberg is now 8-1 overall.
In game one, Wittenberg took a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first inning before Mount Union tied the game in the top of the third as Lee Grosscup (Green/Green) and Evan Knott (Canton/GlenOak) drove in single runs.
Wittenberg came right back with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run home run from Tyler Hutchinson, then the Tigers went up 5-2 with another run in the fourth.
Mount Union then rallied as the Purple Raiders got a run in the fifth on a Knott RBI single, a run in the sixth on a Sean Mohney (Lodi/Cloverleaf) sacrifice fly RBI then took their first lead of the game in the seventh as Justin Jakubik (Strongsville/Strongsville) had a two-RBI double.
The Tigers came back in the bottom of the seventh to win the game with two runs capped off by a walk-off RBI single from Hutchinson.
Zach Carlino (Pittsburgh/Central Catholic) took his first loss on the season while Edison Henry picked up the win in relief for Wittenberg.
In game two, Mount Union was held to a season-low three hits as Kevin Tolle picked up the win pitching for Wittenberg.
Matt Murzynski (Mentor/Lake Catholic) took his first loss of the season on the mound for Mount Union.
The two teams are scheduled to meet Sunday in a doubleheader in Alliance.
