Box Score WAYNESBURG, Pa. – Mount Union's women's lacrosse team extended their win streak to nine games as they defeated Waynesburg (Pa.) 23-2 Saturday afternoon at John F. Wiley Stadium in Waynesburg, Pa.
The Purple Raiders (9-1) were led by freshman Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) who tallied eight points on five goals and three assists and freshman Shawney Hamilton (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) who tallied five points on five goals for the Raiders.
Raiders freshmen duo Susie Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Kendyl Stone (Brunswick/Brunswick) wach tallied six points in the victory with three goals and three assists apiece.
The Yellow Jackets (2-6) were led by Toria Shepherd and Mandy Ormsby who each tallied one point both scoring one goal apiece.
Mount Union went out to a 10 goal lead before Waynesburg could score their only two goals with 19:37 remaining in the first half. The Raiders would net seven more goals to take the 17-2 lead into the halftime break.
The Raiders would blank the Yellow Jackets in the second half as Mount Union would outscore Waynesburg 6-0 going on for the 23-2 victory.
Freshman goalie Casey McHenry (Hudson/Hudson) allowed two goals on two shots as freshman goalie Clare Byrne blanked the Yellow Jackets in the second half with four saves facing four shots.
Mount Union returns home Friday, April 19th to host St. Vincent (Pa.) at 7:00 pm in Mount Union Stadium.
