Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's lacrosse team scored a school record 19 goals in the first half on its way to a single game record 28 goals in a 28-1 win over Waynesburg Saturday at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders at 9-1 overall have now won nine-straight games while Waynesburg falls to 2-4 on the season.
The 27 goals is the most goals in a single game since a 25-1 win against Albion (Mich.) last season.
Mount Union sophomores Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) and Shawney Hamilton (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) each matched career-highs with five goals .
Pensyl's first goal of the game came 3:37 into the game and gave the Raiders a 5-0 lead. Her fifth goal came at the 3:33 mark of the first half and made the score 18-0. Hamilton scored four of her goals in the first half as well.
Waynesburg avoided the shutout by scoring with 8:33 remaining in the game.
Mount Union plays its final non-conference game of the season Tuesday at 5 pm at Washington & Jefferson in Washington, Pa.
