Box Score GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Mount Union's baseball team used a pair of big innings to beat Pitt-Greensburg,. 15-3 Tuesday at Bobcat Park in Greensburg, Pa.
The Purple Raiders have won three-straight games and are 8-7 overall while Pitt-Greensburg is 7-6 overall.
The Bobcats had a 3-0 lead in the second inning on a three-run home run from Chris Common.
Mount Union then scored eight runs in the top of third as the Raiders took advantage of three walks and two hit batters then got a two-run single from Nick Piotrowski (Macedonia/Nordonia) and a two-run double from Scott Sherwood (Mentor/Mentor) that made it 8-3.
The Raiders had another big inning in the fifth with five more runs to extend the lead to 13-3. Mount Union loaded the bases to start the inning then started the scoring on a sacrifice fly from Billy Goodall (Canfield/South Range). James Weber (Auburn, Ind./Garrett) drove in two runs on a single, Nick Satovich (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) followed with an RBI single) and Jimmy Scott (Holland/Toledo St. John's) finished the frame with a sacrifice fly RBI.
Weber drove in his fourth run of the day on a fielder's choice RBI in the seventh and Goodall finished the scoring with a RBI single in the eighth.
Six Mount Union pitchers worked to hold Pitt-Greensburg to seven hits on the day. Kyle Toma (Strongsville/Strongsville) got the win in relief.
The Raiders open up Ohio Athletic Conference against Marietta Friday at 1 p.m. at 23rd Street Field in Alliance
