Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team lost 9-5 at Fredonia (N.Y.) on Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders, now 5-3, were led by Emily Sendker (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster Central) with two goals of her own. Four total Mount Union players scored in the effort.
Fredonia (4-3) was led by Aubrey Yokopovich with a game-high three goals. The Blue Devils had five players contribute to their scoring effort.
In the first half, Fredonia raced out to a 3-1 lead within the first three minutes of play. The Blue Devils continued to build that lead to 5-1 with scoring from Katie Miller at the 01:56 mark. Sendker cut the deficit down to three, 5-2,when she scored with 00:39 seconds left in the half. Fredonia led 5-2 at the break.
Mount Union surged back to begin the half with two unanswered goals by Sendker and Taylor Pensyl (Kent/Kent Rossevelt) witihin the first four minutes to make the score, 5-4. Fredonia then scored two unaswered goals to extend its lead to 7-4 with 18:39 remaining in the half. Kolbie Haines (Hudson/Hudson) contributed a goal for the Raiders with 16:09 remaining in the game to bring Mount Union within two, 7-5. Fredonia again scored two unanswered goals to seal the 9-5 victory.
Mount Union is back in action on Tuesday, Mar. 29, when they host Allegheny (Pa.). The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
