Men's Track and Field: Three All-Conference Performances Put Mount Union in Third at OAC's

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's track and field team sits in third place after day one of the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships Friday at Memorial Stadium in Westerville.

The Purple Raiders have 47 points which is 14 behind second place and meet host Otterbein. John Carroll is in first place with 71 points.

There were three all-conference performances on the day with second place finishes from the 4x800 meter relay team of senior Clark Etzler (Elida) and freshmen Alex Bryan (Geneva), Hunter Probert (Gnadenhutten / Indian Valley), Tyler Gill (Greensville, Pa. / Reynolds), senior Lucas Cooper (Hanoverton / United Local) in the discus (155-10) and sophomore Jeremiah Gyulai (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) in the javelin throw (160-10).

Mount Union had a number of qualifiers for Saturday's running event finals as there are four in the 400 meters with James Roth (Massillon / Perry) in the top spot. Roth is also one of three in the 200 meter finals. Three are in the 110 meter hurdle finals with Mason Plant (Shreve / Triway) in first and Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek / Garaway) in second. Troyer is also one of two in the 400 meter hurdle finals.

The meet concludes Satuday.
