VIRGINIA, BEACH, Virginia—Mount Union men's Distance Medlay Relay placed ninth overall with a time of 9:55.92 Friday night to complete Day one of the
NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship.
The quartet of
Mason Kutz (Dalton),
Josh Fouche (Cuyahoga Falls / Walsh Jesuit),
Curtis Joppeck (New London) and Vincenti Giumenti (Dover) was apart of that distance medley relay.
Mount Union qualified four athletes to the NCAA finals on Friday afternoon.
To qualify for the finals of the championships you have to be top 8 in the preliminary of that event.
Matt McBride (Conneaut) and
Jared Storm (Barberton) combined with
Justin Knoch (Canton / GlenOak) and
Haden Gibson (Brookfield) in the 4x400-Meter Relay finishing in a time of 3:13.73 and currently sitting third.
McBride and Storm competed in the 400-Meter finishing ninth and 15th earning All-American second team with times of 48.10 and 48.61.
Mount Union will return to the track for the final event in the 4x400-Meter relay starting at 6:40 PM.
