The last two remaining teams with undefeated Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) records square off at Kehres Stadium on Saturday as the No. 2 Mount Union Purple Raiders host the Ohio Northern Polar Bears. Last Saturday, the Raiders scored 24 unanswered points in their 38-6 win at Heidelberg to improve to 4-0 in the OAC (6-0 overall), while ONU shut out Capital, 56-0, for its first shutout since 2018. Northern is off to its first 5-0 start in OAC play since 1982. Saturday marks the 67th all-time meeting between the two schools, with the Purple Raiders owning a 52-13-1 (.794) record. Mount has won 18 straight games against the Polar Bears, including last year's 42-13 win at Ada when the Raiders outscored ONU 28-6 in the second half. The Raiders' last loss against Ohio Northern came in 2005 (L, 21-14 at home), their only loss of the season en route to claiming the 2005 NCAA Division III National Championship—their eighth of 13 championships (NCAA Division III record). The 2005 loss to ONU is only one of two OAC losses in the past 21 seasons. Since that 2005 OAC upset, Mount Union has put together a 172-1 (.994) conference record. The no. 1 scoring offense in the OAC (Mount—47.8 pts per game) will be going against the no. 2 scoring defense (Northern—16.7 pts allowed per game).
