WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's basketball team had four players named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams and had two special award winners.
Junior
Elijah Farrington (Massillon / Massillon Washington) was named the Dick Reynolds Player-of-the-Year in the conference and was also a First Team selection, while junior
Shaun Vaden (Cleveland / Cornerstone Christian) was named the Jim Burson Defensive-Player-of-the-Year. Sophomore
Chance Casenhiser (Uniontown / Lake) was also a First Team selection, with senior
Kevin Moore (Youngstown / Campbell Memorial) and junior
Kevin Hamilton (Akron / St. Vincent St. Mary) were the last two Purple Raiders selected both being named Honorable Mention.
Farrington played in 25 games, starting 24 for Mount Union this season. He averaged 15.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game and recorded 10 double-doubles on the season. Farrington ranked in the top 10 in points, rebounds, field goal percentage, free throw percentage and blocks in the OAC, leading the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 55.8-percent on the season and ranking second in rebounds. Farrington becomes the fifth Raider to win the Player-of-the-Year award and the fourth since 2017.
Vaden played in all 26 games for the Raiders this season and started one. He anchored a defense that ranked third in the conference, giving up just 69.8 points per game and he led the OAC in blocks with 88, which was 54 more than the next player. Vaden also had more blocks than seven other teams in the conference and ranks third in the nation in blocks. He also broke the school records for blocks in a game when he had eight earlier this season against Case Western Reserve and blocks in a single season. He becomes just the second Raider to be named Defensive-Player-of-the-Year.
Casenhiser played and started in all 26 games for Mount Union this season. He averaged 17.5 points per game, which led the team and ranked third in the OAC. Casenhiser also averaged 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game this season, also ranking third in the conference in steals, was top 10 in assists and field goal percentage.
Hamilton also played and started in all 26 games for the Raiders this season. He averaged 12.3 points per game, which was third on the team and averaged 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game, ranking top 10 in the conference in assists and assist/turnover ratio and leading the OAC in free throw percentage, shooting 93.1-percent on the season.
Moore also played and started in all 26 games for Mount Union this season. He averaged 8.9 points per game and led the team in three-point percentage, shooting 39.6-percent and ranked in the top 10 in the conference in field goal percentage. Moore was also a key piece to the Raiders' third ranked defense this season along with Vaden.
