Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's lacrosse team defeated Bethany (W.Va.) 18-4 Wednesday evening at Mount Union Stadium.
The Purple Raiders (3-4) were led by freshmen duo Hogan Harris (Medina/Medina) and Michael Taylor (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) who each tallied five points in the victory. Harris scored four goals and had one assist as Taylor had one goal and four assists.
Mount Union freshman Josh Stephens (North Canton/Green) chipped in with four points off of four goals as freshman Toren Moore (Columbus/Hillard-Darby) had three points on two goals and one assist. Freshman Collin Peters (Portland, Ore./Sunset) picked up the win for the Raiders with four saves in the game.
The Bison (2-6) were led by Kyle Arrington who tallied two points in the loss with two goals as Grant Delaney and Brenden Wessells both scored one apiece.
Mount Union controlled the entire first period outscoring Bethany 5-0 paced by Stephens who scored the first and last goal of the period. Mount Union continued to control the game as they would score eight goals in the second period as the Bison scored one to make the halftime score 13-1.
The Raiders shut out the Bison in the third period as they would score four unanswered goals and take the 17-1 lead into the final period of play. Bethany would outscore Mount Union 3-1 in the final play as scored on a man up opportunity and a man down opportunity. Mount Union would go on for the victory with a final score of 18-4.
Mount Union hosts Olivet (Mich.) Saturday, March 30th at 2:00 pm in Mount Union Stadium following the women's game at 12:00 pm.
