Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. - Mount Union's men's lacrosse team was defeated by Washington and Jefferson 7-6 on Wednesday night.
Mount Union (3-1) was led by Michael Taylor (Broadview Heights/Brecksville) who scored three goals and had an assist and Chris Daley (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) who had two goals and two assists.
Washington and Jefferson (5-1) was led by Zachary Fredericks with three goals and an assist.
Daley got the Raiders on the board first with a goal at the 9:18 mark. The Presidents tied the game at 1-1 before Mount Union scored the next two goals of the first quarter to lead 3-1.
The Raiders took a 5-1 lead with two early goals by Taylor and Mike Richardson (Parma/Holy Name). Washington and Jefferson scored the last goal before halftime and Mount Union led 5-2 at the break.
The Raiders were held scoreless in the third as the Presidents scored three times to tie the game at 5-5 after three quarters. The two teams traded goals in the fourth quarter before Washington and Jefferson scored the final goal with 1:51 left to play.
The men's lacrosse team will look to get back on the winning track at home against Thiel (Pa.) on Saturday at 4:00 pm at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
